Bright spots, this volume of columns fulfil what they promise: a surprising outlook on situations and emotions that all of us experience.
About Yvonne Mulder She grew up in The Hague. She has lived in Son en Breugel since 1974. Her first book, the story volume Women of glass was published in 1985 by Publisher Hans Elzenga. She wrote several styles, mainly poetry, also published by publishing firm Lannoo).
About the volume Her grandchildren inspired her to write children’s stories as well. She visited elementry schools, children’s hospitals and care centers with her Story Hat and performed also at the International Agricultural Exhibition the Floriade in The Netherlands which takes place once every ten years. Her works have been published in Dutch, English, German and Chinese.
She interviewed local, regional and national well-known poets for her program for the hospital broadcast ERVO called From poetry to notebook, verses which resulted in a once-only ‘wandering’ book. Over the past few years she wrote a weekly column for the weekly newspaper Forum.

Her images were offered a second life as illustrations. The photo-column combination may raise questions but it always has added value.
Poet Rutger Kopland wrote with reference to A handful of butterflies:
‘A handful of butterflies does indeed what the title promises, a year with touching poetical ‘notes’ in which daily live makes us rise above ourselves. I can imagine that these lyrics are able to comfort people.’
